About piano lessons with Beth

professional beth My name is Beth Alcock and I am a 2nd generation piano teacher.  I have been teaching piano now for 12 years, and I love helping children (and the occasional adult!) develop a skill that is a healthy, constructive form of expression that I hope will be useful for the rest of their lives.

I learnt piano from ages 3-18 with an incredible teacher, Eric Mitchell, who was one of the pioneers of the Suzuki method in Australia, and I have a Bachelor of Music majoring in Piano Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium.

My true passion is spending time at the piano with interesting oddballs, creative and shy types, and boisterous ratbags with lots of enthusiasm.

I also maintain a giant YouTube channel – http://www.youtube.com/PianoWithBeth, which is choc-a-block full of piano pieces from a variety of method books and piano examination syllabuses. I started it to help my own piano students, but my channel now has over 15 million views that have come from every corner of the globe.

I used to run the piano program at Brisbane Montessori School and currently teach piano at St Peters Lutheran College, as well as teaching from my home studio in Annerley, Brisbane.

Before signing up for lessons, please understand that regular practice is required to make piano lessons a success.  Children aged 5-7 are encouraged to practice for at least 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week.  Children aged 8+ are encouraged to practice for at least 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week  (and at least double that if you want to be competitive in eisteddfods and competitions).   A set practice time before school has worked best for my students over the years.

Contact me at tinymozarts@gmail.com or on 043 232 6866 if you would like to arrange lessons for you or your child.
